High blood pressure
High blood pressure rarely makes you feel unwell — but left unchecked it quietly raises your risk of heart attack and stroke. Here's what it is, why it happens, and how we can help you get it under control.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, means the pressure in your arteries stays higher than it should over time — making your heart and blood vessels work harder than they need to.
It's sometimes called the "silent killer" because it usually causes no symptoms at all, yet it's one of the biggest risk factors for heart attack, stroke and kidney damage. The reassuring part: once it's found, it's very treatable — and lowering it makes a real difference to your long-term health.
Symptoms of high blood pressure.
The most important thing to know is that high blood pressure usually has no warning signs — which is exactly why checks matter.
Why it happens.
For most people there's no single cause — it builds up gradually over the years, and several everyday factors add up.
Don't wait for it to settle.
Early assessment helps you get the right treatment sooner. See a specialist if:

Diagnosed from more than a single reading.
Blood pressure naturally rises and falls through the day, so one high number doesn't settle it. Dr Hina Parvez takes repeated readings — and may suggest measuring at home or wearing a 24-hour monitor over a few days to build an accurate picture. She'll also arrange blood and urine tests to look for any underlying cause and to check how your heart and kidneys are coping, and an ECG where it's helpful.

We start with the changes that help most, add medication where it's needed, and keep reviewing how you're getting on.
A consultation with Dr Hina Parvez to review your readings and history, arrange any tests, and agree a plan to help lower it.
Practical, tailored guidance on cutting down salt, losing excess weight, staying active and easing back on alcohol — often the first and most effective step.
Where lifestyle alone isn't enough, treatment can be prescribed and adjusted over time, with regular reviews to make sure it's working and well tolerated.
If your blood pressure is hard to control or a secondary cause is suspected, Dr Hina Parvez can refer you on to the right specialist.

I feel completely fine — do I still need to worry about high blood pressure? +
Yes. High blood pressure almost never causes symptoms, which is why it's so often missed. Feeling well doesn't mean your reading is normal, and the only way to know is to have it measured. The good news is that once it's found, it's very treatable.
Can I be seen online? +
Yes. Dr Hina Parvez offers consultations online across the UK as well as in person. If you measure your blood pressure at home, an online review can be a convenient way to go through your readings and agree a plan.
Do I need to be registered with the clinic first? +
No. You don't need to be registered or hold a referral — you can book a private GP consultation directly. If we find you need specialist care, Dr Hina Parvez can write a referral letter for you.
What does it cost to have my blood pressure reviewed? +
A standard GP consultation with Dr Hina Parvez is £100 for 30 minutes, or £120 for a longer 45-minute appointment; an online consultation is £80. Any blood tests, medication or onward referral are explained and confirmed with you separately — there's no fixed price for those.
