Some people come to acupuncture for a stubborn ache, others for stress that has settled into their neck and shoulders, and some because they want an hour in which to switch off. Guodong Lei works with a gentle needle technique and an understanding of the body's meridians, and shapes every session around the person on the couch — acupuncture on its own, or combined with acupressure massage or cupping.
Guodong's treatment room is at our Rossett clinic, postcode LL12 0HE, just off the A483 below Chester; you can park for free on site.

How much does acupuncture cost? +
A 30-minute acupuncture session with Guodong is £35. A 60-minute session that combines acupressure massage with acupuncture is £60, and cupping is £25. All three prices are on our website before you book.
Does acupuncture hurt? +
Acupuncture needles are much finer than the needles used for injections or blood tests. Most people feel a brief prick or tingle as each one goes in, and sometimes a dull ache or heavy feeling around the point, which is normal. Guodong works gently, and you can tell him at any moment if something feels uncomfortable.
How does acupuncture work? +
Traditional Chinese medicine describes acupuncture as restoring the flow of energy through channels in the body known as meridians. Western researchers suggest that the needles stimulate nerves in the skin and muscle, which may change how the body processes pain. Exactly how it works is still being studied.
What is acupuncture good for? +
In the UK, NICE guidance lists acupuncture as an option for chronic primary pain and for preventing chronic tension-type headaches and migraines; for many other uses the evidence is limited or mixed. People also book with Guodong for muscle tension, stress and relaxation. Acupuncture is not a replacement for seeing a doctor about new or worsening symptoms.
What should I do after acupuncture? +
Most people carry on with their day straight away. A needle point may feel a little tender or show a tiny bruise, and some people feel tired or light-headed for a short while — if you feel drowsy, wait until it passes before you drive. Let Guodong know beforehand if you are pregnant, have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners.
Do you offer acupuncture courses? +
There is no acupuncture package on our price list: each 30-minute session is £35, so you can book one at a time and decide with Guodong how often suits you. The course of three on our menu (£150) is for 60-minute acupressure massage.
