Miss Kasia Studnicka-Perkin
Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon — Hand & Wrist
Hand and wrist surgery, with a wide-awake option.
Miss Kasia Studnicka-Perkin is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand and wrist surgery. Since 2023 she has been a substantive consultant with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, working at Ysbyty Gwynedd and Llandudno General Hospital.
She qualified in medicine in Poland in 2005 and completed most of her postgraduate training in the UK. She trained in trauma and orthopaedics in the Mersey Deanery, where she was awarded the Klenerman Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in training, and in 2021 gained the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics), passed the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology examination and became a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. She then completed an upper limb fellowship at Wrightington Hospital. She uses WALANT (wide-awake local anaesthesia, no tourniquet) surgery, so many hand operations need no general anaesthetic, alongside ultrasound-guided and minimally invasive techniques. She is Educational Lead for trauma and orthopaedics at Ysbyty Gwynedd, an ATLS instructor, and holds an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University and the Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate. Outside work she holds the International Diploma in Mountain Medicine and enjoys mountain biking, skiing and trail running.
